Terms of Service

Welcome to PDFtone. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the PDFtone website, applications, tools, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not access or use the Service.

1. Description of Service

PDFtone provides a browser-based, client-side PDF utility that enables users to merge, split, compress, edit, convert, sign, and otherwise manipulate PDF documents and other supported files. Some features are offered free of charge with daily limits, while other premium features and higher usage limits require a paid subscription.

2. Document Ownership & Processing Disclaimer

  • Local Processing: PDFtone processes your files locally on your own device. We do not store, view, or copy the content of your documents during local execution.
  • Your Files, Your Responsibility: You retain full ownership and intellectual property rights in and to the files you import into PDFtone. You are solely responsible for the content of your files. You represent and warrant that you have all necessary permissions, licenses, and rights to import and process the files.
  • Cloud Syncing: If you actively use our optional account sync feature to save projects, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display those projects solely to provide the sync service to you. You can delete synced files at any time.

3. Accounts & Security

To access certain features (such as higher usage limits, subscription plans, and project synchronization), you must create a PDFtone account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and are fully liable for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Subscription Plans, Billing & Refunds

  • Fees & Billing: Paid subscription tiers (e.g. Plus, Pro, Unlimited, Team) are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis via Stripe or PayPal. All fees are in USD and are subject to change with prior notice.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Upon cancellation, your plan will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle, and no further recurring charges will be made.
  • Refund Policy: We offer a standard 14-day refund window for subscriptions, provided you make a request to support@pdftone.com and your usage of premium services has been minimal. Refunds are processed back to the original payment method.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Process any files that violate laws, regulations, copyright, or third-party rights.
  • Attempt to bypass, defeat, or circumvent the Service's usage limitations, paywalls, or daily limit gating.
  • Reverse-engineer, copy, or scrape the frontend layout, scripts, or backend APIs.
  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or script runners to process files through the website without explicit API authorization.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. PDFTONE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AND HEREBY DISCLAIMS AND NEGATES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, ACCURATE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL PDFTONE, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR PARTNERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR LOSS OF DOCUMENTS) ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF PDFTONE HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operators of PDFtone reside, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the courts located in that jurisdiction.

9. Modifications to these Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
